The role

As the first Release Manager at Wayve, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the release of our cutting-edge software products. You will ensure that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with the highest quality. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, quality assurance, operations, and program and product management, to coordinate and streamline the release process.

We are looking for a Release Manager who is not only organised and methodical but also flexible and pragmatic. In this role, you will need to adapt to changing priorities and be ready to find creative, efficient solutions when faced with challenges. We value individuals who are able to think on their feet and balance the ideal with the practical, knowing when to adhere strictly to processes and when to apply flexibility to meet business needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Release Planning and Coordination: Define and manage the release schedule, ensuring alignment with project timelines, resource availability, and business priorities.
  • Process Management: Develop, implement, and maintain release management processes, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, product management, and operations teams to ensure successful and smooth releases.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in the release process, ensuring that any issues are proactively addressed and resolved.
  • Communication: Serve as the central point of contact for all release-related communications, ensuring stakeholders are informed of release status, issues, and timelines.
  • Post-Release Review: Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas for improvement, ensuring that lessons learned are incorporated into future releases.
  • Tooling and Automation: Advocate for and implement automation in the release process to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve the speed of releases.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all releases are compliant with internal and external standards, maintaining detailed documentation of release processes and outcomes.

About you

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience in release management, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management processes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple releases simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple releases simultaneously and handle competing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable

  • Experience in the automotive, robotics, or AI industries.
  • Experience building out
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • BSc or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
