Watchmaker is inviting applications for the full-time position of Regional Business Manager. We are seeking an applicant to be preferably based in Germany or in Switzerland.

This position reports to the Commercial Director - EMEA and will be responsible for driving the commercial growth across Watchmaker’s genomics product portfolio, with a specific focus on NGS library prep solutions and engineered enzymes. You’ll also be involved with the regional marketing activities, managing and setting up the distribution network in this region. You will be accountable for developing territory sales plans, understanding the competitive landscape, developing strong commercial partnerships within key accounts, distributors and providing voice-of-customer across research and development, marketing and technical support.

Position Summary

As the Regional Business Manager, you will be responsible for delivering revenue and driving growth in Southern Germany and Switzerland for Watchmaker Genomics products. You are accountable for delivering accurate revenue forecasts, enabling the leadership team to monitor business performance and drive decision making. You are required to maintain knowledge of competitor products and their commercial strategies, identifying and escalating their activities in a time bound manner. You are also accountable for providing customer feedback on Watchmaker Genomics products in addition to identifying unmet customer needs that will enable the development of new and innovative products.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate all accounts within the assigned region to identify key growth opportunities to inform the development of an effective territory business plan and strategy
  • Coordinate sales calls, agendas, and product information for effective meetings, clearly documenting meeting minutes, competitive intelligence, and action items in CRM
  • Travel to customer sites for meetings, exhibitions, and networking
  • Identify, prioritise, and map key accounts to build a thorough understanding of the buying process and identify key decision makers to maximise close rate ad revenue growth
  • Build and maintain relationships to identify and investigate pain points and develop strategies to position Watchmaker solutions to address prospects short and long term business needs
  • Consistently deliver on commitments to customers through prompt and comprehensive respond to inquiries, requests for samples, RFPs, and other follow up actions
  • Manage and or set up distribution networks as needed
  • Be involved in the strategic and tactical marketing activities for this region
  • May be involved in some business development and B2B activities
  • Leverage CRM to drive a disciplined sales process, including prospecting, needs analysis, solution development, closing plan, and account management and defense
  • Develop and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline and forecast to drive aggressive revenue expansion, routinely communicate revenue and demand forecasts
  • Communicate customer requirements promptly and clearly to internal teams to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Pitch solutions capabilities and communicate unique selling propositions based on prospect needs and Watchmaker capabilities
  • Additional duties as required within the remit and responsibilities of the role

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educated to BSc or higher in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, with at least ten years of relevant sales experience selling next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and other advanced genomics applications into high-throughput clinical sequencing labs, research hospitals, familiar with Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs), IVD Kits, or other B2C scenarios. Broad technical knowledge of DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes and experience in selling in B2B accounts is advantageous.

Resilient, tenacious with strong negotiation skills within the scientific market, you have a strong track record in delivering sales revenue in key accounts. You have a positive approach with a can-do attitude, great communicator and a high level of self-motivation.

The following skills and experience are requirements for the position:

  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Comfortable with NGS applications with sufficient technical acumen to sell cutting edge molecular biology products. Adept at identifying market opportunities in highly technical and evolving applications
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and earn trust
  • Incisive interrogation skills with outstanding attention to detail to uncover specific client pain points and needs around which to position a solution
  • Proactive mindset and the ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team environment
  • Flexible in nature to accommodate a fast-growing product portfolio and change. Skilled at managing a complex sales process for products in the early stages of development, capturing critical customer and product requirements
  • Strong organisational, task management, and prioritisation skills
  • Adept at identifying market opportunities in highly technical and evolving applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled at maintaining control of the sales process, communicating well-developed value propositions, identifying and eliminating objections early, and closing business
  • Fully competent in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems. Able to learn and build in-depth knowledge of new technology tools

Education Requirements

BSc or above with minimum 10 years genomics industry experience selling into commercial accounts.
