VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Field Application Engineer to be located in the Devens, MA manufacturing facility.

Job Purpose

As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a vital role in the company's growth by developing business opportunities, through strong technical interfacing with customers, for VulcanForms' engineered solutions. As a Field Application Engineer for VulcanForms, you will be responsible for delivering a best-in-class technical interface across the whole first article engineered solution value chain, such that the customers clearly understand and are delighted by VulcanForms engineering solutions. You will be responsible for managing the overall customer technical relationship. The successful candidate must articulate VulcanForms' technology and product positioning to key industry technical and engineering stakeholders to generate demand for VulcanForms' engineered solutions. This position is a critical interface that works very closely with the National Account Manager such that we cover both the commercial and technical relationships with customers driving significant long-term credibility and business growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as the technical expert when working with prospective customers to deliver products and designs that leverage the dynamic technologies of VulcanForms
  • Work directly with prospective customers to understand application requirements and constraints while generating designs, toolpaths, and other design outputs
  • Fully understand and clearly articulate the technical value proposition across the entire VulcanForms value chain, and deliver technical feedback precisely aligned to the customer’s expectations.
  • Perform technical assessments of prospective customer designs
  • Execute on additive design prototypes using the customer’s requirements; lead the technical execution of prospective customer requirements and designs
  • Iterate on existing processes and design as needed to meet the requirements of prospective customers
  • Manage demonstration prints for prospective customers
  • In technical collaboration with the National Account Manager, identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and convert accounts from competitor products.
  • Develop strong, long-term technical relationships with customers.
  • Organize participation in technical forums/conferences to further position VulcanForms as a thought leader in their given market related to engineered solutions manufacturing opportunities.
  • Engage in technical written papers to be used as white papers and or articles for key aspects of the company’s engagement in the target market.
  • Technically support achieving and exceeding business objectives and goals set by the direct supervisor
  • Educate and inform current and potential customers of specific technical product features.
  • Work closely with management to analyze current and future customer prospects.
  • Keep management informed by submitting technical activity and results reports regularly within our CRM system.
  • Monitor competition by gathering the current marketplace information on technical specifications, technical claims, and product/engineering positioning.
  • Travel to trade shows and participate in business meetings and training programs as directed.
  • Foster productive relationships with Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Customer Service and other key internal stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of end product design or applications engineering.
  • 2+ years knowledge in metal additive-based solutions.
  • 2+ years demonstrated technical field success in a competitive B2B industry.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of key companies in their given market and having existing technical relationships in some of these target customers.
  • Driven: Strong and continuous sense of urgency regarding all aspects of the business.
  • Extreme integrity: Honest, transparent, direct communicator (up, down, and out).
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation.
  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills to achieve results.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and utilize a best-in-class responsiveness model both internally and externally with customers.
  • Able to articulate VulcanForms solution-based value proposition and match those to customers critical needs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for customer visits, trade shows, etc.
