VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Powder Metallurgist for our Devens, MA, location.
Job Purpose
The Materials Engineering group at VulcanForms is growing and looking for a Powder Metallurgist to support part production in our Devens, MA, facility. Working with Materials Scientists, Product Engineers, and Operations personnel, you will be responsible for developing metal powder analysis, reuse, and qualification strategies for the metal powders used in our laser powder-bed fusion machines Metal powders include Nickel, Titanium, Iron, and Cobalt based alloys.
In addition, the successful candidate will source and approve powder lots for production part campaigns, author powder acceptance criteria and powder specifications, and define safe powder handling, sieving, and storage methods. Experience in metal powder manufacturing, atomization methods, and compositional and particle size analysis is expected.

Qualifications
- Experience with metal powder atomization methods such as gas, plasma, and water.
- Experience with optical, scanning electron microscopy, and metallographic sample prep.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of metal powder measurement methods for composition, moisture, particle size distributions, flow, and density.
- Able to specify, source, and assist in installing large metal powder handling, mixing, and sieving machines.
Preferred
- 5+ years of experience working in either the metal powder industry or part suppliers that use metal powders.
- Strong background in L-PBF powder metallurgy.
- Experience in metal powder reuse strategies
- Hands-on shop floor experience working on qualification and delivering metal powders to large industrial processing systems
- Excited about taking on new challenges in metal additive manufacturing and working in a fast-paced startup environment.
