As a Staff IT Engineer at Tenstorrent, you will be a key member of our IT infrastructure team, focusing on both on-premise compute environments and cloud solutions. You will collaborate with various departments to ensure our IT infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure. Your role will involve the design, implementation, and maintenance of our compute environments, with a strong emphasis on automation and optimization.

This role is Hybrid, based out of Toronto, CA, Austin, TX, or Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure for both on-premise and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and manage automation scripts and tools to streamline IT operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to build out and integrate various IT systems and ensure smooth operation.
  • Monitor and manage the health and performance of IT infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans for new on-premise and cloud use cases.
  • Manage and optimize compute and network resources using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Ensure IT security best practices are implemented and maintained, collaborating with security teams to protect infrastructure and data.
  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting activities, providing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and best practices to drive innovation and operational efficiency.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as an IT/SRE Engineer, with a focus on both on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of security best practices for on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewall/VPNs and load balancing.
  • Proficiency in managing and optimizing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Nagios, Datadog, or Splunk.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
