Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented performance architect to join the dynamic Tenstorrent Architecture team. As a performance architect, you will be responsible for implementing the infrastructure and models to do performance analysis of the architecture for our family of CPU and AI products. You will help the architecture team make the right trade-offs during early-stage architectural exploration. You will work with cross-functional teams to prove that our design meets the performance KPIs. This role is initially focused on dataflow performance, including the fabrics and the memory subsystem. This role is ideal for individuals who can quantify performance in high-level behavioral modeling, and also help ensure that performance is attained by the implementation all the way to silicon.

This role is remote based in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a scalable architectural performance modeling strategy for use across a wide range of product lines.
  • Steer the architectural choices towards the right solution to meet the performance targets.
  • Collect workload traces.
  • Identify under/over utilization of hardware resources.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the fabric and memory hierarchy and quantify the performance gains from specific changes to the architecture or implementation.
  • Correlate performance modeling results to emulation results.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PhD in EE/ECE/CE/CS
  • Demonstrated experience in CPU, SOC, or ASIC architectural performance modeling and simulation.
  • Hands-on experience with C or System C performance modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing synthesizable traffic generators.
  • Hands-on experience with collecting workload traces and mapping those to traffic generator configurations.
  • Strong understanding of traffic patterns, timings, priority classes, and dependencies. Strong understanding of performance bottleneck sources and mitigation techniques.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) such as Verilog or VHDL.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools including Python and Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
