About Mytra

We're creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We're applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We're focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a sleepy industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

Role Overview

Mytra's Project Integration Team is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to help design Mytra's fire suppression systems from the ground up! We are looking for someone passionate, creative, and innovative to develop and validate fire protection and life safety documents for construction.

The Project Integration team's main goal is to bridge the gap between high-level design and full project deployment. The team is responsible for partnering with the client to develop detailed system processes, designing construction-ready deployments, and preparing documentation to submit for permitting.

As an FPE at Mytra, you will serve as the subject matter expert on all fire-related topics, including fire protection, smoke detection, life safety, hazardous materials, risk assessment, and various other fire and life safety concerns. As a member of the Project Integration team, you will be working directly with our clients to understand their fire protection needs and designing their unique end-to-end fire protection process and procedures. You will be working with local jurisdictions on developing fire suppression drawings, Alternative Materials and Methods Requests (AMMRs), and other fire protection processes such as fire detection and monitoring, life-safety code analysis, and egress analysis. In addition, you will be working cross functionally with our Deployment, Safety, and Engineering teams to design and maintain fire safety procedures for future deployments.

Example Projects

  • Design fire protection drawings for Mytra's new laboratory in South San Francisco and subsequent client sites
  • Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for Mytra systems
  • Prepare an AMMR package and coordinate with external vendors to execute supplemental requirements and requests as part of the AMMR
  • Establish fire protection standards for future deployments and work with local city jurisdictions across the nation
  • Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliances purposes and design solutions
  • Create customer specific fire detection and alarm notification processes cross-functionally and with clients
  • Conduct life-safety code and egress analysis for each customer design
  • Support facility construction teams during deployment, inspections, and commissioning

The Ideal Candidate

  • You earned a degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • You have experience designing and managing the construction of fire protection systems
  • You have working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA Codes & Standards
  • You are knowledgeable in OSHA compliance
  • You have experience working with FDS software modeling
  • You are proficient in Autodesk Revit
  • You're comfortable with the fire permitting process, and have experience defending AMMRs.
  • You have experience with designing smoke detection systems as a tie-in to the fire suppression process
  • You're familiar with working alongside local city personnel as well as other external vendors to complete project milestones and permitting needs.
  • You have experience creating as-built drawings of existing fire suppression systems.
  • You have passion and are willing and able to work with external contractors to complete project goals.
  • You are excited about working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
  • You are able to work independently as well as cross-functionally.
  • You can have the ability to communicate processes and technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • You are consistently looking for unique and innovative ways to solve problems.
