About Mytra

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

Role Overview

Mytra’s supply chain team is looking for energetic, undergraduate or graduate student excited to take on a key role to help grow our business. We have a lot of AI powered robots we need to build!

As an intern on the supply chain team, you will gain valuable experience with how real hardware development companies deal with challenges in getting a product to market and manage their global supply networks (this is what your professors can’t teach you in a book). You will have the opportunity to learn supply chain activities, including supplier selection / supplier management, should cost modeling, purchase order creation, pricing negotiations, and monitoring internal factory material flow.

Example Projects

  • Participating in our material procurement process, across multiple commodities: everything from electronics like PCBAs, to motors that move our bots, to giant roll formed steel structures.
  • Learning how to source NPI / prototype parts quickly for engineering development builds, while also incorporating DfM feedback from suppliers to reduce costs when we hit high-volume production.
  • Developing and growing our global supply chain network in North America, Europe, and Asia — learning how to identify great suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, and ramping up their production.
  • Documenting processes and creating work instructions for supply chain activities.
  • Evaluating inventory levels of components, receiving in parts, and ensuring components are organized / kitted to adhere to our robot production build plan.
  • Assisting with the tactical workload of your fellow team members by processing RFQs, onboarding suppliers with NDAs signatures, organizing digital records, maintaining accurate BOMs, and creating an Approved Vendor List AVL.

We guarantee candidates a variety of challenges and learning opportunities, not just counting parts or entering data into spreadsheets until your hands hurt.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Undergraduate or graduate business student with/or pursuing major in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Supply Planning, Strategic Sourcing, or a related field.
  • Experience with or an undergraduate degree in a technical discipline such as engineering or manufacturing is a plus, though not required.
  • Experience building complex products (warehouse rack storage systems or AI powered robots) with a wide range of commodities and industries, including electronics, robotics, metals, building construction and/or plastic injection molding is a plus.
  • You can effectively communicate to and manage our supply chain partners, and hold them accountable to meet our company’s needs (without burning any bridges).
  • Openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition are important values.
  • You are a local candidate (Bay Area) who can work an estimated 40 hours per week. Hybrid work schedule is available, though most days will be spent at our South San Francisco office / lab space. We cannot sponsor work visas for this role.

A Final Note

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.
