Your Responsibilities

As a Senior NPI Build Engineer, you will help us build early revisions of mechanical structure, automation assemblies, control cabinets and mobile robots. You’ll provide engineering with DFM feedback, draft assembly guidelines for our installation teams, and provide on site deployment support for new design elements. You’ll be working side-by-side with a motivated team to bring our innovative and exciting new technology to reality.

In this role you will:

  • Work with engineers and technicians to build prototypes and early revisions of our products, both at our headquarters and customer sites
  • Document assembly procedures and provide training to enable deployment team independence
  • Oversee technicians at customer build sites
  • Provide engineering with design-for-manufacturability guidance

What We’re Looking For

  • AS or BS in engineering or equivalent in work experience
  • A candidate with strong engineering acumen who’s skilled at electro-mechanical assembly
  • 10+ years of relevant experience building prototype machinery, including both mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Working understanding of basic mechanical and electrical engineering principles, ideally experience with motors and sensors
  • Ability to lead small teams to achieve schedule goals
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Familiarity with design-for-assembly practices
  • Ability to travel domestically. Most work local to Mountain View, but during deployments, could be as much as 75% remote.

What we’d love to see

  • Experience developing SOEs (Sequence of Events) and detailed assembly instructions
  • Able to navigate complex assemblies in Solidworks, design simple fixtures, understanding of GD&T
  • Experience doing PCB rework, ideally some formal training or familiarity with IPC-610
  • Experience building cables, ideally some formal training or familiarity with IPC-620
  • Care for local and global communities, and desire to make an impact through technology
  • Not afraid of robots

  • The salary range for this position is 120,000-$150,000 plus stock and benefits. Pay within the range is based on candidate experience, job-specific skills, and education/training.
