Job Summary:
Enovix is seeking a Cell Safety Development Engineer with experience in rechargeable battery development that is looking to get in on the ground floor of the next revolution in energy storage. This role is ideal for someone with technical experience in battery solutions. The role requires both in depth data analysis and hands on understanding of next generation battery’s operation, performance, and failure methods.
Responsibilities:
- Be the voice of the Enovix Design-For-Safety in the Research and Development Group.
- Participate in cell design development, modelling and validation for Li-ion battery cell safety performance and abuse tolerance.
- Support cell design definition with mechanical, electrical, electrochemical and thermal analysis as required.
- Work with safety testing and cell performance groups to design and manufacture high energy density / high performance Li-ion batteries.
- Understand interplay between cell performance and cell safety to optimize both.
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues around the world – in California, India, Korea and Malaysia.
- Able to translate customer safety requirements into cell design aspects.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Cell Design / Cell Modeling / Cell Development Engineer with demonstrated history or bringing new cell designs to market.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar physical science.
- Experience with cell product design, development, and testing for Li-ion consumer product markets.
- Understanding of the mechanical, thermal, and electrochemical design aspects of Li ion batteries as they relate cell safety and abuse testing performance.
- Working knowledge Li ion cell abuse testing requirements.
- Familiarity with finite-element analysis for mechanical and thermal analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Creative, customer focused problem solver.
