About the Job:
As our HSE Specialist, you will have a crucial role in implementing health, safety, and environmental programs across our offices. Your responsibilities will include being a reliable source of guidance and training on various HSE topics, conducting internal HSE audits to ensure compliance with legislative and corporate standards. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead Clearpath's HSE programs, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and our policies.
  • Collaborate with onsite and remote teams for hazard identification, risk assessments, and workplace audits, offering expert advice on preventative measures.
  • Engage in dynamic sessions with Leadership, discussing safety plans, audit actions, and incident trends, and garnering management support for HSE initiatives.
  • Define and maintain the HSE training matrix, providing and tracking necessary training.
  • Deliver compelling Safety Talks, Toolbox talks, and Tailgate talks to enhance safety awareness and engagement.
  • Administer and develop HSE programs in tandem with Operations, HR, and other departments, championing safety as a collective effort.
  • Lead investigations into injuries and illnesses, implementing preventative actions for recurrence.
  • Manage WSIB claims, ensuring timely submissions, coordinating return-to-work programs, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee activities, ensuring meetings, inspections, and certifications are up to par.
  • Establish and test emergency preparedness and response procedures, fortifying the organization's resilience proactively.
  • Facilitate compliance with internal and external audit programs, actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be apart of a rotation call schedule for HSE matters.
  • Work from our different office locations in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on health and safety experience in a Manufacturing/Automation environment.
  • Post-secondary education or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Professional HSE designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Acts for Industrial establishments.
  • Previous experience with a variety of safety programs, such as JSA’s, lockout tagout
  • Oversee and support the functioning of the Joint Health and Safety Committee(s).
  • Facilitate the organization of Health, Safety, and Wellness events, where emergency and evacuation drills take center stage as a primary focus.
  • Good knowledge of environmental systems such as spill control, waste management, etc.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding & experience with ergonomics as it relates to repetitive assembly processes is an asset
  • Ability to travel to Clearpath's different office locations in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge
