We’re looking for a Product Owner to join the development team for our electrical product. We are experts in computational software development, and we are looking for an expert in electrical systems design and detailing to help us build the next generation of design software for your industry.

In this role, you will directly shape the future of design tooling for your profession. As our in-house voice of the customer and subject matter expert, you will define the details of how the product takes shape and help set priorities for our development. We are prioritizing domain knowledge for this role, and prior experience in software development is not mandatory. This role reports to the Director of Product.

  • You will advocate for the needs of our customers and translate those needs into requirements and priorities for the development team, in the form of user stories
  • Work with Product Management, Engineering, Design and Quality Assurance to understand product strategy and to set detailed development priorities that balance quantity and quality
  • As our in-house subject matter expert, you will educate our team on current design processes, code requirements and best practices within electrical design, detailing, and construction.
  • Create realistic and representative test and sample projects in Revit
  • Interface with our customers to identify their needs, best practices, issues, and to gather feedback to drive strategic decisions
  • Define the acceptance criteria for new functionality, and ensure newly developed features meet the needs of customers
  • Give virtual and in-person presentations to customers and industry representatives to showcase the product at conferences, customer visits, webinars, etc.

Learn to operate as a Product Owner

  • We will teach you the fundamentals of product management, customer research and software development
  • How to create clear requirements, acceptance criteria and priorities for a development team
  • How to inform and disseminate strategic decisions, perform competitive analysis, identify potential development barriers throughout development phases

About you

  • A building electrical engineer, or a VDC designer with experience working throughout the design and construction stages of electrical systems. From system design, BIM modeling, detailing, and construction
  • Knowledge of the NEC code
  • Expert in the use of Revit for modeling electrical raceway systems
  • Working knowledge of common project management and coordination tools, including Navisworks, ACC, Bluebeam
  • A builder and problem solver. Demonstrated examples of proactively identifying problems and implementing new tools and processes in your past roles
  • Curiosity for new tools and technologies, and a desire to learn how they’re built
  • Excited to take a leading role in defining the future of design for the electrical system design profession.
